John Varvatos credits his early obsession with rock ‘n’ roll as the catalyst for his interest in fashion.
In April 2008 John Varvatos opened his fashion boutique at 315 Bowery, Manhattan, New York Cityâwhich was CBGB’s former space. He retains most of the legacies of the underground club: rock and roll stickers on the walls, the graffiti at the toilets was preserved, as were some playbills, found behind a wall, from shows at the club’s 10th anniversary in 1983.
Music is also central to John Varvatos’ philanthropic efforts, including the Save the Music Foundation and an annual Stuart House benefit
In 2001, John Varvatos and Converse formed a partnership to create a line of high end sneakers.
