Robert Smith penned “Lovesong” as his wedding present for Mary Poole in 1988. The two are still together, their rock ‘n’ roll marriage bucking the odds and showing no signs of, well, disintegrating.

The Cure’s Robert Smith wrote “Cut Here” in memory of his close friend Billy Mackenzie (The Associates) who committed suicide in 1997. Likewise, I’d like to dedicate this gorgeously sad song to two of my besties who passed away last month: Ayip and Gusde Sutama. Rest in power, brothers.

I love both bands. Pretty much the same quantity of love. But, yeah, true, every time Morrissey, the bigmouth strikes again, I’ll start questioning my loyalty to Moz—and The Smiths, to a certain degree.
