MACTITUDE: LANIE GARDNER – DREAMS

The members of Fleetwood Mac were experiencing emotional upheavals while recording “Dreams”. Mick Fleetwood was going through a divorce. Christine McVie was separating from her husband John McVie. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were ending their eight-year relationship; Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood had just started an affair. What made it more complicated and worse was that all the band members were so addicted to cocaine during the production of the album, Rumours. Hard drugs, bad romances, excellent album.

MACTITUDE: ORLA GARTLAND – EVERYWHERE

Song that can help you facing the Monday blues. And maybe we can learn a thing or two from Orla Gartland: she covers Mac’s famous melancholy song, “Everywhere”, with positive vibes—smiling and looked happy.

MODJORIDO: REVOLT IN PARADISE

MANJA: GAMES WE PLAY

Seolah ogah kehilangan momentum, Manja kembali menyentak lewat komposisi “Games We Play” Setelah sebelumnya meluncurkan single pertama “Rise” belum lama ini dan disambut amat baik oleh publik.

BANANACH: VIRGIN FUCKBOI

Not exactly sexy, it’s not funny and they’re not going to be rolling around in mud like the Slits; but it’s the closest thing to art that “post-punk”… has offered in a while.

RILO KILEY – I REMEMBER YOU

A beautiful, melancholy Fleetwood Mac-esque indie rock. One of my most favourites of Rilo Kiley’s composition.

THE WONDERFUL MS MERCHANT

One of my biggest 90s crushes turned 57 today. Happy birthday and stay wonderful, Natalie Merchant!

HOME

“I’m going home,” she said.
“Where’s home to you?” he asked.
“My house?” she said, confused, and laughed a little.
“Home isn’t a place,” he paused, “it’s a colour, a song, a scent, a feeling, a person, that first sip of good whisky, but it’s not a place.”

THIS MUST BE THE PLACE

I have a forever soft spot for this song. I immediately get little tears in my eyes, get goosebumps each and every time.

PTC PARTICIPLES CIRCUIT: THE SCENE THAT CELEBRATES ITSELF

Fenomena yang sedang menggejala pada label rekaman Pohon Tua Creatorium (PTC) belakangan ini relatif mirip dengan kejadian pada awal 90an di wilayah Thames Valley, London. Para musisi skena indie—didominasi pegiat shoegaze—kerap kongkow-kongkow di area tersebut, saling mendatangi konser satu sama lain, meminjam personel, tukar menukar anggota, mengisi posisi lowong antar band: The Scene That Celebrates Itself.

CHIEF JOSEPH SURRENDERS

Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce peoples surrenders to U.S. General Nelson A. Miles in the Bear Paw mountains of Montana, declaring “Hear me, my chiefs: My heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever.”

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, THE CATCHIEST SONG OF ALL TIME

“We Are the Champions” is the catchiest song of all time, according to science. “Y.M.C.A.” by the Village People, Europe’s “The Final Countdown”, and “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi were also in the list.
