TRAVOLTA 66

John Joseph Travolta turned 66. This guy really inspires me a lot, style- and attitude-wise.

John Joseph Travolta turned 66 today.

This guy definitely inspires me, style- and attitude-wise. Especially his two movies: Saturday Night Fever and Grease as well as several scenes from Pulp Fiction. The fashion brand that I built with my buddy, Suicide Glam, has a strong, solid spirit of Travoltaism: Bowie-meets-Gahan glam x Punk Rock badassery + Teddy Boy cheekiness and graduated from Situationist International summa cum laude. Oh, no Harley Davidson machismo, please.

To me, this sequence from Grease, notably “Greased Lightning”, is a wonderful representation of Travolta school of thought.

Happy birthday, John Travolta!

Rudolf Dethu

Music journalist, writer, radio DJ, socio-political activist, creative industry leader, and a qualified librarian, Rudolf Dethu is heavily under the influence of the punk rock philosophy. Often tagged as this country’s version of Malcolm McLaren—or as Rolling Stone Indonesia put it ‘the grand master of music propaganda’—a name based on his successes when managing Bali’s two favourite bands, Superman Is Dead and Navicula, both who have become two of the nation’s biggest rock bands.
