About

Music journalist, writer, radio DJ, socio-political activist, creative industry leader, and a qualified librarian, Rudolf Dethu is heavily under the influence of the punk rock philosophy. Often tagged as this country’s version of Malcolm McLaren—or as Rolling Stone Indonesia put it ‘the grand master of music propaganda’—a name based on his successes when managing Bali’s two favourite bands, Superman Is Dead and Navicula, both who have become two of the nation’s biggest rock bands.

Just discovered this Singapore's magnificent shoegaze unit, Coming Up Roses. Saw them performing at Hard Rock Cafe Singapore a few nights ago, falling in love instantly. Been listening to this song on repeat. Melancholy and atmospheric yet beautiful. Sad and gorgeous vocal style. Shoegaze at its best.
Jane-and-Serge
“I met Serge through taking a role in a French film called Slogan. To begin with, he didn’t like me because my French wasn’t very good and he’d been hoping that Marisa Berenson would get my role. Everybody told me he was a mad, bad, dangerous Russian, but after a dinner together I discovered he was very charming."
