About

A music journalist, writer, radio presenter, vinyl DJ, socio-political activist, creative industry leader, band manager, and library diploma holder heavily draws inspiration from punk rock philosophy. Often tagged as the Indonesian version of Malcolm McLaren—or, as Rolling Stone Indonesia put it, the grand master of music propaganda—he is perhaps best known for previously managing Bali’s two biggest bands, Superman Is Dead and Navicula, who have gone on to become two of the nation’s biggest rock bands. The band he now manages is The Hydrant, the pioneer of rockabilly in Indonesia.

WEAR A MASK OR GO TO JAIL

In an effort to curb the spread of Spanish Flu in 1918, some states in the US quarantined citizens; others made the wearing of face masks mandatory, at the same time as shutting down “all places of amusement”. According to a law passed in San Francisco in October of that year, on the day that state-wide infections passed 50,000, anyone seen not wearing a gauze face covering was subject to fines that ranged from $5 to $100 and the possibility of 10 days’ imprisonment.

THE CURE – CUT HERE

The Cure's Robert Smith wrote "Cut Here" in memory of his close friend Billy Mackenzie (The Associates) who committed suicide in 1997. Likewise, I'd like to dedicate this gorgeously sad song to two of my besties who passed away last month: Ayip and Gusde Sutama. Rest in power, brothers.

DIALOG DINI HARI: KULMINASI II
