Still remember them, The Clash wearing eyeliners, with their New rock indie York's "An Honest Mistake"?

Good morning, apocalypse. Hello, y’all survivors. Still remember this almost-New Order, The Smiths-sadness, dark synth-Gary Numan, faux-The Killers song?

I saw them live in Jakarta in mid-2000 or something. Love their fashion sense. Quite glam punk. Sam Endicott, the lead singer, is like the skinny and more chic version of Glenn Danzig. The bass player reminds me of Paul Simonon. Speaking of the whole package: think The Clash wearing eyeliners.

Don’t look at me that way / It was an honest mistake

Music journalist, writer, radio DJ, socio-political activist, creative industry leader, and a qualified librarian, Rudolf Dethu is heavily under the influence of the punk rock philosophy. Often tagged as this country’s version of Malcolm McLaren—or as Rolling Stone Indonesia put it ‘the grand master of music propaganda’—a name based on his successes when managing Bali’s two favourite bands, Superman Is Dead and Navicula, both who have become two of the nation’s biggest rock bands.
