The Cure's Robert Smith wrote "Cut Here" in memory of his close friend Billy Mackenzie (The Associates) who committed suicide in 1997. Likewise, I'd like to dedicate this gorgeously sad song to two of my besties who passed away last month: Ayip and Gusde Sutama. Rest in power, brothers.
Been listening to this dreamy chanson, "Lentement", by Bertrand Belin feat. Barbara Carlotti non-stop since yesterday yet took a serious peek at Bertrand Belinâs discography. I really love his voiceâIâm easily hooked on deep, velvet fog, golden gravel, baritone male singers. I find his musical approach is cool, too: slow paced and elegant songs structure. I like his city slick look as well.
James first met Dankie in Sydney in 2013. James was still a teenager. He showed Dankie his demo. Seven years later, 2020, they met again, in Denpasar. This time Dankie shows James rock-n-roll survival manual.
Peter Wolf turned 74 today. He was pretty popular here in Indonesia back in the early 80s via âCenterfoldâ, âFreeze-Frameâ and âLove Stinksâ with the band he fronted, the J. Geils Band.
Today, 36 years ago, the eponymous debut studio album the Smiths was released by Rough Trade Records.
Produced by John Porter the album was well received by critics and listeners. It established the Smiths as a prominent band in the 1980s music scene in the UK.
A Spotify playlist of my own personal favourite Gahan & co. songs. From Speak & Spell to Songs of Faith and Devotion. Celebrating black and new life. This is music for the masses. Cheers to Basildon beat, nodisco, and can't get enough Clarke.
