Here comes Indonesia's scariest band: Kelelawar Malam. Featuring Sayiba Von Terkutuk (vocals, guitar), Deta Beringas (bass, vocals), Fahri Al-Maut (guitar, backing vocals), and Apin Kiamat (drums), was released their debut album, Kelelawar Malam. The album consists of 12 songs with the central theme of horror stories and urban legends, and dabbles around punk rock, heavy metal, stoner rock, ballads, and delta blues. The band was founded in 2008 due to Sayiba and Deta's dual obsession with the American horror-punk band the Misfits, and their love of Indonesian horror b-movies. Kalimat barusan merupakan analogi paling mudah dicerna dalam menggambarkan album perdana Kelelawar Malam, Kelelawar Malam, yang baru saja terbit Oktober lalu. Berisikan 12 lagu seram-mencekam, gubahan ini divisualisasikan bak buku cerita bertaburan syair gelap/ngeri/terkutuk karya Sayiba Von Mencekam (biduan, gitar) yang terinspirasi film-film horor Indonesia kelas B, dipadukan dengan artwork mistis-suram hasil kerja Deta Beringas (bas, vokal), serta didukung Fahri Al-Maut (gitar, vokal latar), dan Apin Kiamat (drum).

Lagu-lagunya sendiri deskriptif lagi kronologis berkisah mengenai fakta brutal berdarah, pula rupa-rupa mitos dan legenda yang terlanjur merasuk di lorong-lorong kelam benak masyarakat. Sebut misalnya “Malam Terkutuk” yang menyoroti ritual pembakaran penyihir, “Malam Mencekam” (pembunuhan berantai), “Palu Keadilan” (kebangkitan manusia di Padang Mashar), “Malam Jumat Kliwon” (kuntilanak), “Bangkit Dari Kubur” (pocong), “Ratu Kegelapan” (ratu penguasa lautan).

Sementara jenis musik yang diusung lumayan variatif—dengan rock sebagai perekatnya—berkisar di sekitar punk rock, heavy metal, stoner rock, balada serta delta blues, alias tak jauh-jauh dari selera masing-masing personelnya.

Kelelawar Malam sendiri bangkit dari kubur pada 2008 akibat obsesi berlebih Sayiba dan Deta terhadap grup horror-punk asal Amerika Serikat, Misfits, serta film-film Suzanna. Duo ini lalu membentuk tribute band Misfits. Namun, di perjalanan, faktor penguasaan alat yang duhai terbatas, ditambah dengan kemalasan menghapal lirik serta ogah-ogahan mengulik chord gitar Misfits, efektif memaksa mereka untuk mulai mengarang tembang sendiri yang akhirnya malah memunculkan karakter unik, ultra berbeda dibanding dengan grup musik lainnya di Nusantara.
