The band he now manages is The Hydrant, the pioneer of rockabilly in Indonesia.

Who would've thought you missed the 90's so bad? I mean it literally kicks off the word "Phat" and created the hair gel "just got out of bed", wearing tucked-in t-shirt on a bootcut jeans is fine? Those kind of ridiculousness reminds me of my good old days, skipping and got dropped out from college. Yes. I was, in fact a ruthless UI student who got kicked out after 6 month of absentee. Being a "good" apprentice that I am, determined to leave the country to, so to say, discovering British scene. And all I got was a revelation of a self righteousness and blinded me from seeing the fact that no man can ever defeat the female power. Growing up in the 90's is such an advantage. The decades helped form and shape my independent music taste. Growing out from the heavy metal/glam rock scene, I was a real sucker to alternative rock panorama. Then the girl band/singer scene really kicks in. It further become the gesture of my works. Did attempt to form an all girl band. Twice. Sucked on it. My salutation to all of the absolute wicked female bands/singer that rocked my cradle. The wind is blowing the other way. Channeling kinda lo-fi rock 90's groove all the way, with a twist. From the alternative rock to shoegazing until the era of the forgotten trip hop to disco, nevermind the bollocks, here is the 90's female band! Thanks Mr. Dethu for bring me back there!

"Since I was a kid I've been interested in music," says Dethu in understatement of his passion. He was born 42 years ago, he says with an ear for music, popular culture and new directions that drew him to start a bunch of bands that were not mainstream, breaking fertile ground in the process. 'I started many bands. The first was around 1988. That was a cover band. It was a small start in music, but I felt drawn to music even though I could not play an instrument. I saw I could convince people of which were the good bands and other people started listening too," says Dethu, most widely known as first manager of punk band, Superman is Dead.Read more

Jakarta 2011: Sentra Konser Musik Asia

・Versi Bahasa Indonesia silakan klik di siniIn the context of international entertainment, last year brought a lot of hope to Jakarta. So many overseas musicians were involved (Java Jazz 2010 itself brought 430 musicians alone). The calibre of the festivals became much bigger (Java Rockin'Land was considered to be the largest rock event in South East Asia). More and more world famous bands came and played (311, Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, to name a few). How about 2011? It gets even more huge. The early of this new year N.E.R.D. will play in Istora Senayan. A bit after that Ne-Yo also perform at the same venue. In February there'll be Deftones, Iron Maiden and New Found Glory. In March Stone Temple Pilots. In April Jimmy Eat World & Maroon 5. From this list the general public can be optimistic that the music show in Indonesia will be even more dynamic. We won't be too surprised if Jakarta or Indonesia could reach at least "Asia's Rock Mecca" status in 2011...

Deklarasi Cupumanik: Grunge Harga Mati

・Versi Bahasa Indonesia silakan klik di siniCupumanik are back. These Bandung's grunge veteran just released their newest single with a video clip, "Grunge Harga Mati" a few days ago. This song is their first ever single after quitting from a major label. It's also their significant step to fully apply a kind of Do-It-Yourself ethos. Che, the frontman, said that starting December 2010 they will release one song every two months and give it away a.k.a. free of charge. Another six songs are ready to be distributed thru next year. The single "Grunge Harga Mati" is like a declaration that Cupumanik is identical to grunge, Cupumanik is grunge itself. They have always been tagged as a grunge band by the public, and it naturally has become their flesh and blood so this time they formally declared it. Regarding the video clip, it basically talks about the transformation that happened with Cupumanik, from major label to an indie band. Endank Soekamti: Semoga Kau di Neraka

・Versi Bahasa Indonesia silakan klik di siniThe melodic punk outfit from Yogyakarta, Endank Soekamti, have just picked "Semoga Kau di Neraka" as their second single. Not only the is the title pretty in your face (it means "wish you were in hell"), but the circumstances as to why it was chosen are a little unusual. They conducted a poll on social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter, hoping to gauge which song was considered the best to be the second single. And viola... As the second single, "Semoga Kau di Neraka", has also made an impact on the ring back tone sales, featuring even higher than their first single, "Audisi". So far Endank Soekamti has released 4 full-length albums. The first one, Kelas 1, was released in 2002 with help from Pongky Jikustik and Tony traX. The second, Pejantan Tambun, in 2005, and third, SSSTTT!!, in 2007, were both released under Warner Music Indonesia. In 2008 at the same time they quit from Warner, they started their own online radio: Soekamti FM. In 2010 they joined the Nagaswara label and in May released their fourth album, soekamti.com. A few days ago they finally decided to use "Semoga Kau di Neraka" as their second single. Watch them live on Dec 19 in 1000 Bands concert in Cibubur. Maroon 5, Presale Tickets & the Power of Twitter

・Versi Bahasa Indonesia silakan klik di siniLike it or not, you have to agree with the power of Twitter---or social network, at least. Look what happened with Maroon 5. They are scheduled to play in Jakarta on April 27, 2011. Java Musikindo, the promoter, started promoting the concert a month ago and opened the sale of presale tickets on Sunday, Dec 5; although the information about the presale tickets day was only published on Twitter and a few big banners ads, the 6000 tickets were sold out in less than 10 hours! A similar thing happened a few months earlier, Java Musikindo sold presale tickets of Pitbull, and 4,400 of them sold out in less than 24 hours. As with Maroon 5, Java Musikindo only promoted the presale tickets via Twitter, and it worked really well. Who would've thought that Pitbull would get that awesome response from the public? Java Musikindo is also using this strategy for the upcoming Deftones gig, scheduled to play in Jakarta on Feb 8. Their presale tickets were sold on Nov 27, a few months before the gig. Although no proper data is published as to how many tickets were sold, if we look from the Twitter time line obviously the Deftones concert has created a lot of hype on that web platform. Earlier in October, JavaRockin'Land already proved how effective this Twitter marketing can be. By creating its own account which people can follow and know what's going on minute by minute with JavaRockin'Land (e.g. are Smashing Pumpkins confirmed to play? When are the presale tickets on sale?). The gig itself ended up a massive success: Almost 50,000 people came to witness the biggest rock concert in South East Asia. Maybe not all because of Twitter, but there's no doubt that Twitter played a major role here. Yes mister, the super power of Twitter!
