Mungkin saat itu pertama kalinya saya berkenalan dengan skema bernama Rap, dan musik bernama Hiphop.
Long story short, Hiphop was my first love, menggugah dan menginspirasi.
Membangkang dan menyalakan nyali.

With that kind of quality, it should've been pretty easy for her to get signed by any huge record label (meaning: better exposure, better promotions, betterâ€"and biggerâ€"financial backup), but she prefers to go the Do-It-Yourself way a.k.a. minimum wage, maximum work, more headache, less sleep.

Sejarah terbentuknya kongegrasi ini dimulai pada 2005 ketika dua anak muda berselera musik seragam, Dawny & Arnold, bersepakat bersekutu di bawah nama The Authentics. Pemilihan titel band sedemikian rupa semata karena mereka menginginkan bunyi-bunyian yang otentik, merepresentasikan keaslian, sebagaimana para pengusung Ska di masa-masa awal. Sudah begitu, di era permulaan The Authentics kerap meng-cover lagu-lagu milik The Slackers, Hepcat, The Skatalites, dan serbaneka Ska tradisional. Namun dalam rentang evolusinya mereka kemudian mulai melebarkan jelajah musikalnya dengan menciptakan senandung yang lebih sederhana, mudah dicerna, kental nuansa bersenang-senang juga ramah-dansa alias danceable; tanpa sama sekali tercerabut dari akar Ska-Swing-Soul-Blues.

She's Australian who's been living in Jakarta for quite a while now---and loves it so much.
Let's hope she will stay longer---I bet some of the boys would prefer forever---in Indonesia.
Dari Bali mereka menolak keseragaman selera bermusik. Dengan tato, alkohol dan, simbol-simbol judi, memainkan Rockabilly lebih menarik minat wanita.
Grunge sudah mati? Seattle Sound telah tamat? Mungkin iya. Bisa jadi benar. Sebab di manca negara gelinjang musik yang berporos di Pacific Northwest, Amerika Serikat,---utamanya Seattle---ini terkesan melempem, layu gairah, sempoyongan lalu pingsan. Kalau pun para pembesarnya masih bergentayangan di blantika cadas raya, gaungnya tak cukup signifikan, tipis nuansa kolektif, cenderung melenggang sendirian. Boleh dibilang dari kalangan pesohor berbusana flanel cuma tinggal Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Mudhoney, dan Alice in Chains (formasi anyar) yang masih eksis. Sayangnya, umur panjang itu tak disangkutpautkan dengan pergerakan atau rejuvenasi Grunge. Sepak terjang Eddie Vedder dan Rekan dianggap nihil relevansi dengan so-called Seattle Sound

Jangankan untuk skala lokal Bali, dalam lingkup nasional sekalipun cuma ada sedikit band yang mampu melewati satu dasa warsa. Superman Is Dead (SID) adalah satu dari segelintir kelompok musik yang sanggup eksis bukan hanya melewati rentang sepuluh tahun tapi juga, hebatnya lagi, dengan personel yang sama, tak berubah, sejak awal berdiri.
Foto kiri: Patti Smith saat CBGB ditutup pada 15 Oktober 2006CBGB memang sudah tutup usia pada 2006. Klub legendaris tersebut, menurut sang pendiri, Hilly Kristal, rencananya dipindah ke Las Vegas. Tapi dia keburu meninggal. Saya kurang tau apa akhirnya jadi dipindah ke Vegas apa tidak (maybe you guys know?).
Namun tepat di lokasi dimana CBGB dulu berada, 315 Bowery, Bleecker Street, Manhattan, New York City; sekarang sudah diambil alih oleh John Varvatos, salah satu desainer pakaian terpanas di Amrik saat ini---yang belakangan juga nyumbang rancangannya untuk Converse kelas premium (dengan label: Converse by John Varvatos) yang tentu saja harganya lebih mahal dari biasanya.
